Desire, I Want to Turn Into You

Caroline Polachek · Perpetual Novice, 2023

Caroline Polachek started it in lockdown, and finished it on tour.

Her first tour under her own name stopped in London in March 2020, when the world shut. She stayed and made the record with the producer Danny L Harle; Sega Bodega joined the sessions later. At a house party in Rome she heard Ti Sento, a 1985 Italian single, and its huge vocal became a touchstone. It came out on Valentine’s Day 2023, and Pitchfork ranked it the second-best album of the year.

Blood And Butter

I can literally feel this track in my veins. When I first started listening to this album it kind of a gave me a hard time to get through the first few songs because they were very experimental and not what I am used to but listening more this truly is a work of art from the vocals to the beats and experimental inst…
