Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle

Bill Callahan puts so many emotions in his music that I can’t understand. I don’t know how we live on the same planet. I don’t know what this song is meant to make me feel. I listen to this song and I think I come as close as I possibly can to a deeper understanding (except maybe Sycamore). JC is a symbol of luck and devotion and fear and pain but I just picked the first four feelings I could think of. Is pain a feeling? How can a wave possibly be? Sometimes I wish we were an eagle 🦅😎

I hated this song the first time I listened to it but it’s really grown on me. I still sometimes think his strange rambling words are strange. What do they mean? I bet I could find out. Maybe he knows something I don’t 😎

Right from the start I feel like Bill Callahan is warning us about something…. The wind! The wind is always change. A new direction! “And I am a child of linger on” I sing that to myself all the time. Liiiinger onnnn… 😎

This whole song (and album) is just so beautiful. I did some sort of dance… jaunty as a bee! I’m running out of things to say. 🐝😎

This one is like 5 minutes of searching inwards and understanding it all! The birds and the beasts and the horses and wind and doves. Can Can you Can you understand Can you understand yourself? 😎

I will always love you my friend. When I hear this song I see visions of my friends staring into some imaginary camera and smiling. This song is like what having a friend sounds like. 😎

All thoughts are prey to some beast! His voice sounds so different at the end here. I feel like he usually sings with a sort of matter-of-fact attitude. Yes the sycamore trees grow and men sing and the coyotes run in their dreams. But here I feel like he’s trying to break free and really tell us that the beast… something about the beast… all thoughts are prey to some beast! 😎
