right where you left me - bonus track

i remember where i was when i heard this song for the first time. i enjoyed popular songs like ‘Style’, but i didn’t really understand the draw of taylor swift, pulling girls towards her like some sort of siren below a shipwreck. that was until i heard ‘right where you left me’ and my life was permanently altered. it wasn’t that i automatically became a die-hard fan, but little by little, i became less apprehensive to explore her discography. i felt like she wrote about me… even when the songs were about things i’ve never gone through - i felt like she wrote about how i would’ve felt in that situation. hence, a kinship grew. an understanding. this song sums up exactly how i feel at every stage of my life. i’ve always been a reminiscer, pouring over times of my life i didn’t even much enjoy, desperately clawing back to that feeling. i am a victim of rose-coloured hindsight. i’m very much still at the restaurant.
