Ram On - Remastered 2012
I wrote an entire essay on this song not realizing there was a character limit. That’s up on my Substack (@shootingpoison), but here I’ll get into the personal meaning of this song to me. This song fundamentally changed the way I viewed Paul McCartney, both his career and him as a person. His personal relationship with the Beatles bleeds into this track. “Ram on; give your heart to somebody soon, right away.” After losing friends that I never imagined I would, this was the mantra I told myself: Ram on, get through this. Give your heart and time to somebody new, don’t let them hurt you more than they already have. This song has been my favorite Paul song for years, but it truly has been even more special to me over the last few months.
