I Don't Mind If You Forget Me - 2011 Remaster
This album being Morrissey's first album after the fall of The Smiths, there were doubts it would even be successful, with Morrissey thinking this may really be the last of his music output. With that context, these lyrics read as if Morrissey is coping with this worry to his listeners telling them it's okay if his legacy ends here. He speaks of pressure to move on from The Smiths, how he now has to struggle to find how he'll make his own solo music and live up to the strong legacy he left behind. Because to top Johnny's composition skills is quite a hefty task. I like the upbeat contrast to this in the music. It's nice to know that unlike Morrissey's worries, this album was a hit and he'd continue on.
