The Cold
I had a cheap little Stagg mandolin hanging around covered in dust in my bedroom. I can't play the mandolin, but I had recorded 'The Cold' on my acoustic guitar in open D and I tuned the mandolin into something that resembled that tuning and played some chords that harmonised with the acoustic guitar. It was heavily inspired by 'Sagres' by The Tallest Man on Earth, who has probably been the single biggest influence on my music. Despite saying 2025, this song came out years before that and is a kind of middle-stage Roman Lakes, after I stopped using my Tascam 8 track recorder and switched to Mac. I'm currently working on capturing some more lo-fi magic.
