Wildflowers

This album is perhaps the best of Petty. A mix of absolutely beautifully written songs that convey sadness, catchy tunes that top the charts, and fun electric jams that let Petty’s writing shine. One of the few albums I think Rick Rubin had a positive influence on.

You Don't Know How It Feels

this just brings the listener in. peppy but already introducing the heartbreak themes, it has the juice to get you hooked on your first listen while still being so relatable

Wildflowers

The perfect introduction song. Plays off the last song to create a cyclical element to the album. Introduces Petty and his persona for the album wonderfully—a man who is trying to be supportive to a lost lover but is nonetheless heartbroken.

A Higher Place

Sneaky fourth favorite after the first three tracks in the album, this has a mix of tempo, poetic lyricism, emotion and thematic elements. It’s not too flashy but it’s poignant.
