Tonight, Tonight

recently rewatched i saw the tv glow and do not remember this song being in it all. can’t believe it passed me by as it’s one if my favourite songs ever and it worked so well in the film. this shouldn’t come as a surprise given that a lot of schoenbrun’s imagery was inspired by that of melon collie and the infinite sadness. it plays when owen revisits his old vhs tapes after maddie returns and tells him the pink opaque is real. the choice to have lindsey jordan (who plays tara in the film) sing these lyrics is not lost on me: “believe, believe in me believe, believe that life can change, that you’re not stuck in vain.” two year later this film still blows my mind.
