i don’t like it when people say that they don’t like a genre, because i think it’s a pretty reductionist argument. there are so many artists out there pushing the envelope and dropping genre-bending works literally every day and to push away an entire genre just because you don’t like whatever the forefront of it has to offer is a pretty lame thing to do. so when people say that they don’t like rap, i think it’s a little (more than a little) ridiculous since there are so many different genres under the blanket term of rap like this EP. i don’t necessarily listen to rap all that much but when i think about the genre as a whole, there are so many projects that really blow me away with production and lyrical content like this one. the production on this EP kind of reminds me of elevator music but in a good way (elevator music is good though if i’m being honest, i just have to be in the mood) and i feel like it’s such a breath of fresh air. it’s only 12 minutes long with five tracks and none of them overstay their welcome whatsoever. i found this EP on a whim, and i find that discovering music like that usually gives me my favorite projects and even though i found this one only a couple of days ago, it’s rising in the ranks of my recently listened as we speak. recency bias is only a thing if you acknowledge it, and i’m choosing not to acknowledge it. constructivism for the win. thanks.
