Sherane a.k.a Master Splinter’s DaughterKendrick Lamar This album changed my life and my perspective on rap music. For me this album is a 10/10. The album is like an immersive experience bringing you to Comton in the life of a young Kendrick Lamar. A kid from the streets but with intellect and a philosofical view on things happening in his neighbourhood. It pushed me to dive deeper and work harder when making my own music.
The Bad TouchBloodhound Gang For me this song reflects growing up in the 90’s. People felt free, the future was looking more optimistic and people were less sensitive and could smile more. Or maybe it just felt like that growing up as a young kid.
Fisherman's Blues - 2006 RemasterThe Waterboys This song really reminds me of my parents. My parents are people that worked very hard, but not always made the right choices. They are loving people, so growing up meant forgiving them for the mistakes they made and appreciating the warmth and love they gave me. For me this proces was a big part of becoming an adult. The fisherman blues is a need and cry for adventure and a different path. Sometimes I hoped for a different path for my parents.
30 HoursKanye West I love this song so much. Its made in a period when Drake was invited to Kanye’s studio to help songwrite for him. The beat is a classic vocal chop from Kanye where he changed the original meaning of the lyrics ‘where the hours go’ to 30 hours. In this short period there was a good work connection between Drake and Kanye that resulted in this track and some other demo’s that where never released. In the end you can hear some backing vocals from Andre 3000 and a light hearted Kanye telling that he loves bonus tracks like 30 hours. The vibe of the track hits me every time. Somehow without analysing the meaning of the lyrics it reminds me of my childhood.
