Who we are
Rhune (“Rhune”, “we”, “us”) runs the invite-only artist platform and public curator tools at rhune.co (the “Service”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are the agreement between Rhune and every invited artist, authorised representative, or curator (“you”). By signing in you are agreeing to everything below. If something here worries you, please reach out before continuing.
Eligibility and accounts
Artist access is invite-only and is designed for artists who are 18 or older. Curator accounts are open to the public and must also be 18 or older. Curators authenticate via Spotify and/or email code login, and you agree that we may rely on those methods to verify account access. If you are acting for an artist, label, or rights-holder you must have permission to do so. Keep your login emails, Spotify credentials, and devices secure; you are responsible for anything that happens in your account. We can revoke an invite or suspend access if we spot misuse or risk to the Service.
Key definitions
Artist Content covers the notes, commentary, edited metadata, profile images, uploaded images, or other material you contribute. Curator Notes covers the notes, reviews, ratings, playlist metadata, curator profile information (including uploaded images), and related annotations you submit as a curator. Spotify Metadata is the public catalogue data we import from Spotify (artwork, titles, dates, etc.). Listener Notes are crowd-sourced fan submissions shared through Rhune’s artist tools; they remain fan-authored but are licensed to Rhune under the Listener Note Writing Policy. Fan Experiences are the community-facing areas we control (such as public reading rooms). Rhune Premium refers to paid subscription tiers that unlock additional features, storage, or support for artists or curators, as described in-app.
Your content and our licence
You keep ownership of your Artist Content. When you upload or save content you give Rhune a worldwide, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, promote, and improve the Service (including Fan Experiences, Listener Notes tooling, Rhune Premium features, and any successor or substantially similar services we develop). This includes displaying and promoting your profile images or uploaded images in the Service, in Rhune marketing, and in announcements about the Service. This licence continues for existing uses after you close your account so that previously published materials, backups, and legal obligations can be fulfilled. We will respect any non-waivable moral rights you hold to the extent required by law.
You promise that you have the rights you need for everything you submit (including Curator Notes, reviews, and uploaded images), that it does not break the law or the rights of others, and that you have cleared any necessary permissions with collaborators or labels. When you curate Listener Notes, you may only use fan submissions inside Rhune unless you secure the fan’s additional permission. We can refuse, edit, or remove Artist Content, Curator Notes, or Listener Notes if we believe it breaches these Terms or if we need to protect the Service.
How to behave on Rhune
You agree not to upload anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful, exploitative, or infringing; not to scrape or reverse engineer the Service; not to misrepresent yourself; and not to interfere with other users. Please protect your devices and email accounts—if someone gains access through your negligence, that is on you.
Spotify metadata
Spotify Metadata is governed by Spotify’s own terms. We refresh it regularly (and at least every 30 days) and whenever you open your artist workspace. We display that material under Spotify’s developer/commercial terms and you agree not to use the Service to scrape, export, or repurpose Spotify data in a way that contravenes Spotify’s rules or our agreements with them.
For curators, we access Spotify data via the permissions you grant (profile, playlists, playlist artwork, and related metadata) and may refresh it to keep your catalogue in sync. We do not control Spotify’s availability, accuracy, or the timing of updates.
Curator reviews also rely on release-group metadata and cover art from MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive (and, where needed, Spotify). Those sources are governed by their own terms and may change or be unavailable; you agree not to misuse or attempt to bulk download that data.
Listener notes (artists only)
Listener Notes are optional fan-facing experiences available to artists. Fan submissions are third-party opinions and are licensed directly to Rhune under the Listener Note Writing Policy. We share them with you so you can read, curate, or feature them within Rhune. You must not harass, dox, or otherwise misuse the information we provide (including fan aliases, IP hashes, or submission metadata). You may not export, publicly repost, or commercially exploit Listener Notes outside Rhune without securing rights from the original fan.
Rhune moderates Listener Notes, but we may leave material up even if you disagree with it; you can hide or archive fan submissions in your dashboard. We may remove notes, pause sessions, or limit access if we see abuse, excessive submissions, or security issues. We are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of any fan content.
Curator accounts, notes, and reviews
Curator tools let you connect a Spotify account, surface playlists, and add Curator Notes or reviews (including ratings) to tracks or releases. You keep ownership of Curator Notes and reviews, but you grant Rhune a worldwide, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, distribute, adapt, and use Curator Notes, reviews, and curator profile information (including uploaded profile images) to operate and promote the Service (including reading rooms, discovery pages, marketing, and future fan experiences). This licence continues for existing uses after you close your account so previously published materials, backups, and legal obligations can be fulfilled.
Spotify data is provided under Spotify’s terms and may be incomplete, delayed, or changed without notice. Playlist contents, ordering, or availability can change on Spotify and may not sync instantly within Rhune. We do not guarantee that Curator Notes, playlists, or track mappings will be preserved if Spotify data changes or if you disconnect your Spotify account.
We may edit, remove, or decline to display Curator Notes, reviews, playlists, or reading rooms at any time (including to enforce these Terms, remove infringing content, or protect the Service). You are responsible for keeping your own backups if you need guaranteed retention.
Future features and monetisation
Rhune will keep evolving. We may add Fan Experiences, community spaces, advertising, subscription tiers, or new media uploads. We will always announce material changes, and by continuing to use the Service you agree to the updated Terms that accompany those changes.
Payments and Rhune Premium
Some features require a paid Rhune Premium subscription or other fees. We may offer separate subscriptions for artists and curators with different pricing and benefits. Prices, billing frequency, and inclusions are shown in-app or in an Order Form. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically for the same term and payment method until cancelled. You can cancel anytime via Manage or by emailing hello@rhune.co; cancellation stops renewal at the end of the current billing period and does not trigger refunds for partial periods.
You authorise Rhune (and our payment processors) to charge the applicable fees, taxes, and currency conversion costs to your selected payment method. Late or failed payments may result in suspension or downgrading to the free tier. We may change pricing with at least 30 days’ notice; continued use after the new price takes effect counts as acceptance. Premium-specific perks (such as additional storage, analytics, or listener note capacity) may change over time, but we will provide a pro-rated credit if we discontinue a paid feature mid-billing cycle.
Service changes and availability
We aim for calm, predictable uptime, but the Service is offered “as is” and “as available”. We may pause, change, or discontinue parts of the Service (including specific Listener Note sessions or Premium perks) at any time. If downtime is planned we will let you know when we can.
Ending the relationship
You can delete your account at any time via Manage or by emailing hello@rhune.co. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if invoices remain unpaid, if we have to comply with law, or for any reason at our discretion. Premium cancellations take effect at the end of the then-current billing period. Some information (including backups, logs, curator notes, listener note selections, or previously distributed content) may remain for a reasonable period for legal, security, or archival reasons. Sections covering licences, acceptable use, payments, indemnities, disclaimers, and limits on liability stay in force after termination.
Our intellectual property
The Rhune codebase, design, trademarks, and branding belong to us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you rights to our intellectual property other than what is needed to use the Service.
Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against Rhune because of your Artist Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms, you agree to defend and indemnify us and our affiliates from the resulting costs and liabilities (including reasonable legal fees).
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Service (including Listener Notes and Rhune Premium) is provided without warranties of any kind—express or implied. We are not responsible for lost profits, data loss, service interruptions, or harm caused by fan submissions, third-party services, or unauthorised access.
Our total liability for all claims arising from the Service or these Terms is capped at the greater of £100 or the fees (if any) you paid Rhune in the previous 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, although we may seek urgent injunctive relief in other jurisdictions if needed.
Updates to these Terms
We may update the Terms from time to time. We will email you, post a notice in the artist workspace, or highlight changes on the site when updates are material. Using the Service after the new Terms take effect means you accept them.
