  1. Hiding In The MelodyNight Moves first song that introduced me to night moves it’s hard to keep a 7 and a half minute song engaging but damn they sure do it night moves brings a psychedelic twang that feels so nostalgic stevie nicks like raspy vocals colliding with slices of riffs that sort of stab you that last one, makes me want to pick up the cheap electric guitar I got from guitar center when I was 12 and try to grasp at the release that playing it must bring you’re truly moving through chapters in each movement of this cosmic soulful song
  2. Roll The Bones - Audiotree Live VersionShakey Graves I love how this guy uses his solo act instrumentation it’s like they’re extensions of his body I mean, the kick drum itself is like a heart beat it’s ingenuitive and cool as hell this man is a sound entrepreneur sidebar-I watched him end a song live by smacking the back of his guitar right against the mic in while wearing a neon hawaiian shirt in 100 degree heat on a racetrack in lexington, ky life changing
  3. Frankie's Gun!The Felice Brothers I love it when little weirdos do their little weirdo things i’m grinning ear to ear skipping around in the raining listening to this song when he goes ham on the accordion who they hell is he even talking to? the sporadic conversational tempo scratches an itch for the theatrical I feel like he’s just drunk rambling at a bar about nonsense, imagining an ensemble accompaniment that just isn’t there it’s eclectic and fabulous
  4. The Swimming SongLoudon Wainwright III this sounds like one of the songs we’d sing at summer camp and stomp around the lodge hollering to while some guy on his college summer break and probably high as hell went crazy on his guitar in front of a bunch of 10 year olds. I think he thought he was a lumberjack in a past life but we’re not kids i’m 24 and it’s law school and I sure as hell can’t swim but might as well try… and give a little holler that holler at 2:10! I love it
  5. Graceland TooPhoebe Bridgers the number of songs you send someone when you’re in love and across the country is crazy when you’re a little depressed, and they won’t say they love you back, the number gets pretty absurd just one devastating song after the next trying to get through the strings of terribly massive feelings that you feel the need to throw up through someone else’s voice and words and story, someone who has a knack for articulating that horribly human feeling much better than you and this one, you said was especially devastating you said that line killed you “so we spent what was left of our serotonin/ to chew on our cheeks and stare at the moon” and all I could think about was how I was waiting for when “she knows she lived through it to get to this moment” felt like it rang true in my life it’s been 5 years since then, every fall I listen and wonder if this will be there year it feels true it hasn’t come
