Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan Stevens once said he would make an album for every US state. He made two.
He grew up in Michigan. His first album came out in 2000 on Asthmatic Kitty, the label he started with his stepfather, Lowell Brams, who paid for the first thousand CDs. Michigan followed in 2003 and Illinois in 2005. In 2018 he sang Mystery of Love, from Call Me by Your Name, at the Oscars.
