SearchingPete Rock & C.L. Smooth My god… at the expense of sounding like a boomer… we really live in an honest cultural decline and in my very humble opinion, Hip Hop has suffered the most. I listen to a multitude of genres and for the longest time I’ve been in deep contemplation of why I haven’t been listening to Hip Hop as much as I used to. I found the answer today after listening to this track that came up on shuffle from another track by Badu x Busta. There is just a sonic type of cocaine that isn’t in today’s newest Hip Hop tracks and if there is… I haven’t found it. The cadence, the rhyming sequence especially that little bit where Pete Rock says ‘you’re making me nervous’ right at the beginning, jesus…. Fucking delicious is the best I can muster of an accurate description of how this song makes me feel.
eat the pavementDev Lemons I didn’t expect to dig this song so much. This is the first track I’ve heard from Dev Lemons and safe to say I’ve grown to be a definite fan of all her songs. <3 on repeat for the past few months now.
MaybeKettenkarussell What can I say? 7 minutes of pure, delicious, ambient house. A perfect song to levitate to, but not so far off the ground because it somehow is also grounding as you sway and bob in a sonic space between solid and liquid.
2 HandsMei Semones This track has been on a ridiculous repeat since it has been released. I’m already a fan of Mei but this song is my current favorite. The opening with just her vocals and the guitar is absolutely beautiful as a song opening, very reminiscent of an early 00’s anime opening OST meets math rock especially because of the guitar tone and when the drum fill comes in with the bass? Perfection, honestly. The string section comp the song beautifully. The song is complex without trying so hard and so simply sweet all at the same time. I really like how there are two worlds in this song.
